I'm lazy.

Constantly lazy. Which is why I (sort of, not really) gave up on keeping a consistent routine of posting a picture from my phone on a daily basis.

I'll think of something super fun that I can do to liven up this blog. Reader commentary. GUEST POSTS. Hell, I might even pull a Mindy Ephron Kaling (from The Office) and start posting shit that I want to buy. And I want to buy a LOT.

There's always a love-hate relationship with work.
I love the fact that Commander lets me go get tea from Wisey's, and I enjoy constantly roaming through the store and shopping through the new stuff we just got in. And of course, the people we always get in there are always a treat -- I sold women's red zebra print skinny 'so tight that I can see your penis' (a Detroit Rock City reference for you) jeans to this guy who looked about 35.

Anyways, the picture is symbolic of my long days and nights working for the Commander (whoever he is -- even the managers aren't exactly sure). I love it. Obviously that's not me, but I constantly want to curl up in a box of leg warmers and rest my feet.
It's probably because I need better shoes. But this job is definitely worth it.

HAPPY DAY OF GIVING THANKS.
I'm "stuck" in Northern Virginia this lovely Thanksgiving weekend -- and I put stuck in quotations because it's really more of a logical, cheaper reason for me to stay over here: I have two weeks of school left. My aunt lives here. The anticipation for California builds up even more. You know. -- and it's been a very eventful one. Why?
1. I made a baked ziti dish. CAN YOU BELIEVE IT?!
2. I made little cheesecake cupcake things.
3. I also made spinach-artichoke dip.
4. ...I watched Solo con tu pareja for my Third World Lit class assignment, and it was a really damn good foreign film. Alfonso Cuaron is a great director. My goal this winter break is to actually rent out his other films and watch. Mmm.
So overall, a pretty great Thanksgiving...to which I am thankful for.
Although, I'm pretty unthankful for being stupid and leaving a lot of shit around in my dorm. And for forgetting my Guitar Hero guitar there! Nobody understands the pain I have in trying to play GH2 with a controller. Seriously.

Clap Your Hands!

I went to see Clap Your Hands Say Yeah last night.
I really wasn't expecting this to be an extravagant display of amazing vocal talent and musical genius, but I will admit that I had a damn good time. That picture isn't zoomed in or anything -- it's on my phone camera and it is very in my place. That is Alec. I enjoy his voice. As for everyone else in the band, I dig them because they remind me of people (the bassist? Billy Boyd. the drummer? DEFINITELY a better, younger-looking John Goodman.). Also, I really dig the youngest member in the band because he's just so damn silly. It was funny to see the other keyboardist-type guy shake his head when the younger guy wasn't paying attention or just tried to start rhythmic claps when he really should have been keying the keyboard. Or something.

I also really dug the drummer that looked like Nick Lachey from the first opening act and then the really tall bassist from Mazarin. For as long as people provide the rock, I shall keep attending shows.

This is late news: DCist usually has an 'Overheard in DC' weekly post, which is amazing and slightly scary. Amazing in the sense that wackjobs all over the nation's capital are finally revealed, providing us with quality quotes. Slightly scary in the sense that there's usually a conversation thrown in from American University. I have to watch what I say. No nook on this campus is safe.
Anyways, the point I'm trying to get out is that one of my overheards got posted a few weeks ago and I just (sorta) realized it. A gold star goes to the one who knows which one it is -- however, if I've told you this already it doesn't count. I'm looking at you, Allison.

It's like god's way of saying, "This is what you guys get for creating crazy shit like Cookie Monster. COOKIE MONSTER?! Seriously?! A white tiger would definitely beat that thing to the ground, no doubt. How do I know? I created it. Duh." Although it kind of looks like he's trying to give Cookie Monster a hug from behind. People who do visuals for retail stores are so weird sometimes.

Halloween!

I have a Harry Potter day calendar. I think I've had an HP one for the past three/four years, but this year is more of a collective of little scenes from Movies 1-4 with cheesy little descriptions.
How fitting today's is: the creepy Harry/Cedric death scene from Goblet of Fire. Oh no, there aren't any signs of homoeroticism OR vague hintings at necrophelia here! What makes this day/picture even better is the fact that I was obsessed with GoF/Cedric and Cho/Robert Pattinson for all of 2005, and I remember all the crazy shit surrounding this picture. The best caption for it that will never get out of my head is: "DEAD BOYS DON'T SAY NO, HARRY."
Getting freaky on the Quidditch Pitch is definitely one of the ways Cedric Diggory wanted to die -- but Harry wasn't exactly the person he had in mind while it was happening.

I witnessed a robbery kinda/sorta at Commander on Sunday.
Also, I went to a badass party on Saturday which was better than expected.

I've definitely been digging the hip-hop more than usual lately -- probably beacuse of Commander, but how can you not when it sounds so damn good?! One thing in particular that I love are the random collabos that include John Mayer. When one thinks of John Mayer, guitars and wonderland bodies and running through halls of high schools (which I've done) and other sundry happy folky guitarist things come to mind. But when you're doing skits on Chappelle's Show and jamming with ?uestlove (The Roots) and featured on Common and Kanye songs...damn. Props to John Mayer for being so weird.

I smell ya.

I'm notorious for talking about retail jobs. There's something about the clothes and the co-workers that keep me coming back for more; Express 298 will always hold a place in my heart despite the fact that they've made me do studio -- 9pm to 7am of nothing but pure rearranging/folding bliss -- for two days straight once. That was a crazy caffeine trip. Now I'm working at another store in DC for the moment, which is just as fun.
The better part about working in Georgetown is the people. My god, the people! I love the sneakerheads, the disgusting Georgetown boys that leave the store looking like a hurricane went through it, and especially the crossdressers/transvestites.
If you're reading this, I have extreme love for you. Nothing makes my day brighter than helping out a man with legwarmers and lame' gold/silver pants. I also met the nicest guy today, who actually turned out to be a drag queen. After saying, "Whoa, I'd never suspect!" he replied, "You should've seen my wife's reaction when I told her." HA.

America is an awesome place.

We didn't start the fire!

I don't know what the hell is happening in California. Lots of fires in random areas (Ontario? What the hell? Does anything ever happen there?) like Lake Arrowhead and Irvine of all places. Irvine! And Malibu.
I want to say things like this tend to happen every few years...I remember a couple of years back there was a fire in South-ish OC, and the hot wind/ashes that flew over the Santa Ana Bowl during one of the Mater Dei football games. All I could think about at the time was how it "smelled like bonfire" and how the ashes resembled a kind of snow.
I'd imagine that it's about a thousand times worse than just a faint smell of bonfire right now though.
